For the crossing, and all that comes before.

There is a role for the one who stays. The one who tends the space, holds the passage, and does not leave at the edge. That role is ancient. It is necessary. And it is this work.

Meghann serves people in palliative and end-of-life care, people dying inside federal correctional institutions, and communities whose traditions deserve to be honoured at the crossing.

Land Acknowledgement

I acknowledge that I live and work on the unceded ancestral lands of the Máthxwi (Matsqui) and Semá:th (Sumas) Peoples. I come to this land as a settler of mixed Celtic ancestry, carrying both gratitude and responsibility. I recognize that my ability to build a life here is tied to ongoing colonial systems that continue to dispossess and harm Indigenous Peoples.

I am committed to challenging colonial norms and white supremacy in the systems I move within, and to showing up in solidarity in ways that are tangible and ongoing — by dismantling inequities, amplifying Indigenous leadership, and supporting sovereignty, land back, and self-determination. I commit to walking forward in relationship, refusing neutrality, and shifting whatever power I hold.
